Early in her career, Shruti worked for community-based and community-led organizations focused on drug- and HIV-related issues. She has also worked on issues concerning female sex workers, HIV effects, and sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) in Nepal.

In addition, Shruti has worked to shape policies related to AIDS in Nepal. As her career advanced, she took on the responsibility as the Gender Focal person for the International Committee of the Red Cross in Nepal. She also worked as a Research Assistant for a professor at the University of Minnesota University researching SRHR.

In 2010, Shruti was one of 10 individuals selected as a Top College Woman by Voice of Women magazine. In 2011, she presented her article “Male Street Children of Kathmandu Valley Being Sexually Abused and their Behaviour Problem” at the 6th Asia Pacific Conference on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights.

Shruti holds a MA in Development Studies, Kathmandu University.
