Habtamu is an expert in education policy, the education sector, and the opportunities and constraints of both at the federal level. He is a competent, decisive, and dedicated professional with a wealth of experience in leading, planning, and monitoring & evaluating education projects. Habtamu’s excellent leadership and interpersonal skills have resulted in the cultivation of high-level relationships with key government education authorities. He has more than three decades of experience in government educational institutions, local and INGOs, and served several education actors as a consultant.
Starting as a high school teacher upon graduation in 1984 with a Degree in Education from the Bahir Dar Teachers’ College, Habtamu has taken up a range of professional and academic posts (including completing a MA in Educational Psychology from AAU in 1996) at various times working for the Ethiopian Ministry of Education and international and local non-governmental organizations.
In his role as the Government Adoption Program Coordinator for Geneva Global Ethiopia Habtamu has worked with his colleagues to provide significant professional services for local and international NGOs including the education baseline survey, evaluations of education projects, organizational (government education offices) capacity assessment, preparation of training manuals, and training for Government personnel, headteachers, teachers, and NGOs’ staff working in education programs.
What is your favorite aspect of the Speed School program?
The Teaching Methods are distinct and effective. I am always impressed by the engagement of children in the instruction process.
