Doug Balfour
Chief Operating Officer
Doug Balfour has 25 years of experience in leadership, organizational development and alliance building across a range of sectors. Prior to joining Geneva Global, Doug was executive director of London, U.K.-based Integral, a global alliance of 12 relief and development agencies. He previously served as general director of Tearfund, the United Kingdom’s sixth-largest aid agency, based in Teddington. At Tearfund, he led a multinational staff of more than 650 people, implementing advocacy, relief and development programs through 300 partners in 70 countries. Earlier, Doug held management and consulting roles with the Birmingham, U.K.-based Lucas Group and lived and worked in Africa. He studied geology at the University of Southampton, United Kingdom, and earned a master’s in business administration from the Cranfield School of Management, Cranfield, United Kingdom.

Gene White
Client Services Director
Before joining Geneva Global, Gene worked in the banking and finance industry, where his roles included training, overseeing investment licensed representatives and managing a division responsible for more than $100 million in annual sales. Gene also spent 12 years living in Europe and Asia, most recently in China, where he taught at the university level for five years. Gene holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland and a master’s degree in intercultural studies from Wheaton College. Since joining Geneva Global in 2004, he also has served as regional manager of the Asia research team as well as director of consultancy.

Warren Lancaster
International Director
Prior to joining Geneva Global, Warren Lancaster served as director for England and Wales for The Leprosy Mission International, based in Brentford, United Kingdom. He was previously chief executive officer of London, U.K.-based Merlin, which provides healthcare and medical relief to victims of disaster and conflict worldwide. Warren was instrumental in the development of the humanitarian agency Medair, based near Lausanne, Switzerland, where he served as an executive director. He also worked with the London-based British Red Cross to explore improving nongovernmental organizations’ accountability by creating an ombudsman for humanitarian assistance, a project sponsored by 22 leading U.K. relief and development agencies. Warren holds a master’s degree in international humanitarian and development practice from Oxford, U.K.-based Oxford Brookes University. He has a business background in risk management within the insurance industry.

Adrienne Wampole
Head of Sectors
Before joining Geneva Global in 2003, Adrienne Wampole held analyst positions at Columbia Financial Advisors in Portland, Ore., and Capstone Advisors in Fort Wayne, Ind. Her international development experience includes work with organizations in Kenya, Kosovo and Uganda. Since joining Geneva Global, Adrienne has acted as the regional director of the Eurasia research team and as a senior consultant for Geneva Global’s organizational strategy working groups and external consultancy offerings. Adrienne earned her master’s degree in international economic development at Eastern University in St. Davids, Pa., and an undergraduate degree in accounting and business systems at Taylor University in Upland, Ind.

Stephen Fitzmier
Chief Information Officer
Before joining Geneva Global in 2001, Stephen Fitzmier spent eight years in business strategy and process, specializing in the management and implementation of information management and service delivery systems. He also founded a regional Internet professional services company. Serving as chief operating officer, Steve led the organization to become one of the mid-Atlantic region’s fastest-growing companies, increasing revenues 575 percent over three years and attracting $4.6 million in investment.
